Joint Risk Management Seminars with College of Surgeons Flight Medicine Systems and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons are once again delivering risk management seminars with a unique difference to members of the College. As part of their continuing professional development, RACS members will once again have the opportunity to undertake the "From the Flight Deck: Improving Team Performance" seminars during 2009 and 2010. These two day fully-interactive programs look at the lessons learned from the aviation industry and apply them to the medical environment in order to reduce errors, incidents and accidents. Program participants will learn about human error and how to improve individual and team performance. The program combines rigorous analysis of actual airline accident and medical incident case studies with group discussions and the rare opportunity to experience a realistic operational flight in a full-motion airline training flight simulator. The seminars are facilitated by an expert team of experienced doctors and professional pilots. The seminars are challenging, fun and enable participants to learn some valuable lessons. 2010 Seminar Dates:
